Tips for teaching presentation

Hamamatsu Chapter

Date and Time:
Saturday, 23 October 2010 - 7:30pm - 9:00pm
Speaker:
Charles LeBeau

The author of Speaking of Speech will join us to speak about his book and experiences teaching. The book divides presentation into three messages: The Physical Message, The Visual Message, and The Story Message. In this workshop, author Charles LeBeau shows how he uses music, sports and other fun activities to introduce and teach the Three Messages.

Charles LeBeau was once an aspiring jazz musician a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away and was a Featured Speaker at the JALT 2007 conference. Since landing in Japan in 1982, he has taught in both the university and corporate worlds. Currently, he teaches at two universities and is on the faculty of the Toshiba International Training Center, where he has taught for over 20 years. He is co-author of Speaking of Speech, co-founder of Language Solutions, an organization dedicated to developing simple models and metaphors that make presentation, debate, discussion, and other critical thinking skills accessible to beginners. He divides his time between Yokohama, Japan and Eugene, Oregon, where hippies with VW buses and tied-dyed shirts still flourish.
